03- A picture of you and your friends

Hmm. I believe I don’t mind having lots of friends. I mean lots of true friends. Although, there are only a few friends I would call true, and fewer so that I could call real, I still value the meaning of friendship. It’s a bond different from family. Severing it could cause breakdown, so I try not to inconvenient them as much as possible.
Let’s start from the friends I acquired during my elementary years. These people were the first people I called friends. We even had a name for our group: The French Club. I got separated from them during high school, which created a gap in our friendship. Nowadays, I have no contact with them, and only kept tabs with them through facebook. Although our friendship was short lived, and we are more on formal terms these days, I still remember the moments we had together, and the childhood I spent with them.

Let’s go to the college friends I just recently met. Okay, not so recent, since I’ve been with these people for more than a year. They’re fun to be with, and don’t let the assumptions about our course get to them. At first glance, people might think that we’re rowdy, annoying and way over our heads, but if you get to know them for who they really are, I’m sure you’d like them.

                And now, tandadadan~
Meet GATB. Well, I’ve explained a lot about them on my first post. I love these girls, and I miss them all so terribly.  I haven’t seen some of them for a while, and I wish so bad to meet them again soon. They are what I call the in-between. I don’t call them bestfriends or sisters, because that seemed to put a limitation to what we could do together. Well, I love you guys, and I miss you all so bad.

Lastly, I would love to introduce my all-supporting cousin- Van Alens Cabana. She is my bestfriend/ sister/ cousin. I really love her. I miss her so much already. I haven’t seen her for months due to her migration to a different country. Things are really different now that I don’t have her around to hang out with.

Martyrdom

Many definitions pop up in your heads once you hear this word. Well, even I was baffled when I first heard this word. I mean, who would gladly give up themselves just for the sake of proving their point or faith? I probably won’t, but come to think of it-dying for what you believe in sounds heroic, noble even. Back then, I thought that martyrdom always comes with death, but now, I think it’s just a proof of how big your heart could be, and how it could endure anything. Even the fangs of death would not bar you because of this great faith.
The word martyr came from the Latin word martirez, which means witness. Apparently, martyrs are known to have witnessed the truth, but still kept holding on to their faith no matter how excruciating the consequences are. This undying love didn’t have a huge impact on me before, but through the tests of time, I’ve learned to respect and look up to those martyrs who hold on to their words even if the effects of their actions could cause them more than just their lives. It’s amazing how their great love and faith could move mountains, even after they’ve experienced humiliation and pain.
Some people casually shrug off the idea of martyrdom. Others would even condemn and criticize badly, because of their seemingly blind love for something. But, personally, I think those martyr people we hear from the television or from the gossips that reach our ears, are a thousand times note worthy than us. After all, they gave up their chance at happiness just for love. Take for example-Jesus Christ. He died for the sake of us sinners. Another would be Lorenzo Ruiz. He would rather die than renounce his faith. Pedro Calungsod is another one- a newly proclaimed saint by the Catholic Church- because he died protecting his colleagues. These people, although we never met them personally, are great examples of martyrs who would give up their lives just to redeem the eternal life promised by God.
Ah, the very thought of eternal life makes me want to cry. Oh well. We’ll just have to do everything to prove that we are worthy to be called as children of the Lord. It’s not an easy path if I must say, but we could look at the martyr mothers who would take the beating of their sadistic husbands just to protect their children; or the martyr fathers who will work their fingers to the bones just to feed their family; or even your friends who will keep on extending their hands to you, even if you continually push them away. These simple acts of love are stepping stones towards achieving the eternal glory of happiness found in Heaven.

LEADS

Leadership empowering and development seminar or LEADS was held last December 19-21, 2012 at Initao, Misamis Oriental. It was a three-day seminar full of fun-filled activities, productive speeches from prominent speakers, and new friends. The seminar aims to enlighten promising student leaders., through cultivating the unit of the leaders with numerous activities.

At first , I hesitated on coming along. I am not particularly fond of going to places with people I am not acquainted with. Later though, as the seminar went further, I realized that I would have regretted a lot if I didn't come. It was fun. So much fun. Gadgets were confiscated right after breakfast, and we were only allowed to use them during meals and after the day was over. That rule brought me to a realization- counting time will only limit the fun and learning, whereas not knowing about the passing seconds will make you treasure the moment with the people around you.

There were strict rules imposed on us too, and I just broke one of them. It didn't really matter though. At the end, or team got the most responsible team award. Oh, I shall introduce you to the teams. During the first day, we were asked to pick popsicle sticks scattered all throughout the ICT building. I picked a popsicle stick with the word Goodness written on it. Little did I know that that activity was to designate us to our group. All students who picked Goodness were part of the Pink team. I really don't like the caller pink, and so when we were asked to pick the animals that our team should represent, I was so glad that they chose the panther. Pink Panthers in short.

Although I hated the idea of being part of the Pink team, I didn't hate my groupmates. They were nice, friendly people, who gives their honest opinions in each of our activities. We ate together, planned together and presented together. I would miss them truly.

So much for that, let us not forget the unfortunate events that bore bad news to the CAS officers. Certain matters concerning our money from the bank brought me and Neil (he's our treasurer, at the same time my schoolmate since high school) back to CDO. The organizers allowed us to finish our transaction, and gave us ample time to go to CDO and back again before dusk. It was a tiring trip, since we the two of us were both standing for more than an hour. The buses were cramped, and we were left with no choice. I also had my period during the duration of the seminar, which sucked even more.

This picture shows how haggard we were on the way back to Initao. Although, the expenses were not ours, and there was food on our bellies, the obvious fatigue was catching up to us.

Over-all, the experience was worth remembering. Moments like this should be grabbed and we should not let them pass.

02- The meaning behind your Blogger name

Gelloid is another name that came up from the random nicknames that my friends inducted me with. I’m amazed at our knack of inventing nicknames that are usually longer than our real names. I think we are weird that way, but I don’t really mind.
Ezzy is the first to call me in that nickname. At first, it sounded weird, because I associated it with androids, mechanical stuff and tablets. Gradually I got used to putting the suffix oid to almost every name I encounter. Luckily, the brief habit never affected my grades or any particular event in my life. It just reminded me of small things that could make me happy, or of things that made me grateful because I have six awesome friends that accepts my weirdness meter.
Gelloid became a practical name to me, because it isn’t hard to remember. Also, it’s quite close to my real name. I have a few website accounts using that name, which always reminds me of its convenience. I decided to use that as my blogger name because it reminds me of happiness and carefree moments; of simplicity and the perks of teenage impulsiveness. Basically, the name reminds me of childhood, which is slowly spinning away from my grip.

01- A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

This is my most recent picture of myself. I don’t like taking pictures, but yeah, this is it. I decided to ditch my frizzy, wavy hair for this sleek, straight one. Although I missed playing a lot with my old hair, I’d prefer this because it’s easier to tame during those awful windy days. It doesn't show much here, since I just sort of woke up in this picture.

Fifteen facts:
01.   I love books. I breathe in the stories and wish that I could one day write sensational stories. It would be one of my greatest achievements if it were to happen. Recently, things are not good between me and my books, because I’ve been busy these past few days. Also, most books are cliché, and I miss the good old days where the creativity of the stories really come from capricious minds.
02.   ANIME. Yes, I spend most of my boring days during weekends watching anime. I think I have been an otaku since I was five. My cousins were the ones who introduced me to the anime world. And guess what? I welcomed it with open arms. XD
03.   I love pizzas. They could make me fat, but who cares. Soul foods like pizzas provide me with vigor so different from other foods.  Potato foods. French fries would be one of them. I always love eating French fries, much more when I eat it with friends. GATB used to eat more than the average people do, back then. I hope I get the chance to eat fries with all of us again.
04.   GATB and my cousin, Van Alens- these people are the siblings I never had. I want to live in London, so that I could live close with my cousin, or in Australia so that I could get closer to Ezzy.
05.   Brown. I love the color brown. I don’t know when I started liking it, but I love all shades of brown. I just realized one day, that most of my things are colored brown, and knew then and there that my instincts were pushing me in the direction of appreciating that particular color.
06.   Tall people. I have a fetish for tall people. I mean, my friends are tall for their age (no offense to Fido. XD. He’s the exemption). I consider myself tall.
07.   I killed kittens when I was a kid. Look, I have no angst against kittens, but I was selfish for their attention back then. I wanted them to come to me, but all they ever do is run. I imagine myself cuddling with those cute creatures, but they refused to come to me. Well, I was just a kid then, I had my own tantrums, and I really am SORRY to those poor souls.
08.   I tend to have random outbursts. Gatb can attest to that. My college friends are not so immune to my random laughs, or to my random statements, but somehow they are already getting used to it.
09.   For me, WEIRD is a compliment. I don’t understand why, but I’m happy to be called weird, no matter if it’s on the negative side, or positive.
10.   Please don’t mind this post. It’s just blah blah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah  bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah  bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah bIah.
11.   I have a crush on a gay person. Okay, this is the first time I ever let this out. GATB doesn’t know this yet. I’m not sure if I really like him, but for some reason I don’t want to see him sad or mad or insecure. Okay. Okay, that’s it.
12.   I am still stuck on Genesis chapter 7. I haven’t moved from reading the Old Testament yet. Although, I’m happy that I’m done with the New Testament. I know that the Old Testament is more complicated than the New Testament. I also want to get back to my daily devotional.
13.   I love my two step grandmothers, but I hate their impatience. I know that this is not their fault, but it’s just the consequence of old age. I love grandparents and old people in general. It just breaks my heart to see them alone. I really don’t know why.
14.   I want to have a fish as a pet! I’ve been craving for one since I was a high school girl!
15.   I want to remain patient with everything that’s been going on around me. I want to see the world with a poet’s eye. I want to keep loving humanity even against the bleak background. I love my family, friends and GOD.

Skyrim

Well, before I officially start the 30 posts challenge, I would like to give you an overview of what I do with my gadgets when I run out of ideas to fight off the tentacles of BOREDOM. I am actually not a techie girl, who craves for the attention of online friends or someone who is a gadget addict or … well, let’s live it at that. So, basically, this post is to tell the world that even if I quit playing Defense of the Ancient eons ago, I still have other sources of fun in the gaming world.

Elphis: This game is a director's cut from the popular children's fairy tale- Red Riding Hood. There is a scientist and time travelling device involved, and the main character gets to have an amazing hammer which serves as her weapon against cute monsters. Seriously, this anime has CUTE written all over it. I would rate this three over five.
Music Hero: I like playing this game because of its versatility. You can use your own playlist to start the game. It's like tap tap revolution minus some complicated downloading. I could have rated it a five, but it lags every once in a while which made it a four.

Slender Man: This game is originally a PC game, which is considered as one of the scariest PC games nowadays. It also has an android version, but the map is smaller, which leaves you little room to run around and avoid the Slender Man. Although you still have to collect eight pieces of paper, the original PC version is a thousand times better than the android version. Well, we can't really exxpect high quality and graphics with android games. I rated it three over five.

Ancient Kingdom Defense: I really love this game! You don't have to do anything in particular with this game. You simply have to place warriors around the field to stop the monsters from reaching the castle gate. Your warriors don't even die. Although this sounds a little boring, since all you have to do, is strategize and defeat the monsters without basically running an adrenaline rush, I still love it immensely. I rate it five over five.

Fruit Ninja: I've been craving for this game since the day I got my android phone. The mechanics of the game is quite simple. You just need to slice all the fruit on your screen, and avoid the bombs that will end your game if you accidentally slice them. I rated it five over five.

I shall introduce you first to the games in my android phone. Meet, Music Hero, Slender Man, Elphis, Fantasy Kingdom Defense and fruit Ninja. Say hi to the world my game friends! Well, so much for these cute but helpful games for entertainment. Let’s get to the real deal- SKYRIM.
Personally, I could only give a few words concerning this game, because I haven’t finished playing it yet, and barely even finished one quest due to time management. I just started last night, but I saw the protocols, mechanics, graphics and quests when my friend Fido played it. Actually, I wasn’t expecting much from the game, since I never played RPG before, but the guy kept talking about it as if its second nature. He kept comparing it to Sword Art Online minus the nerve gear and the simulation. Don’t get your hopes high: THIS IS NOT SWORD ART ONLINE.

Skyrim was first introduced to the gaming society and addicts almost a year ago. I just started getting interested with it recently. The game brings you to the world of Skyrim, where dragons, dragonborns, and a feuding empire catch you in the middle of a rebellion. You get to choose between joining the empire or supporting the rebel Stormcloaks. You’ll just have to fight your way out, and figure your calling as a dragonborn. I will not divulge any more details than this, because it will spoil the fun. See it for yourself by purchasing it at the nearest gaming shop.

P.S : I might not start the 30 post challenge yet, because I still have a few kewl ideas in my head. See you in my next post ! (I shall return to playing Skyrim, I’ll get back on you guys after a few days. Have a happy period! ^_^)

Cyber Bullying leads to Isolation

What do you think of this new way of bullying? Is it equally unjust and unforgiving as the normal bullying you know of? Well? Of course it is! Come on! Bullying is bullying! That is just like a make-up. No matter how you try to lessen the blemish, it would still wear off, and the real skin underneath would eventually show itself.
At some point, we experienced bullying. “No, I did not!” One might insist, but look around you. Even your friends say words that could hurt you. Sometimes, they would gang up on you, which would leave you with no choice but to comply with their demands, or agree with their ideas. People might call this as peer pressure, but sometimes we simply go along with their plans because we fear to lose their trust. Well, this is not the issue here, and I’m not here to say negative things concerning my friends (I love you GATB, no offense), but I just want to make a point to some other people who simply disregard their friends as if they’re simple trash you see on the road.
Bullying will never do anyone any good. Now that I’ve finished explaining a few points in the normal bullying method we know of, let’s go to the new way of bullying people- Cyber Bullying. The internet is the vogue of the season. Everyone knows about, or heard about it. Even the people who are living far from the civilization know a thing or two about the internet. The internet could connect us to our loved ones from distant countries or places. I have friends and families from other countries and places too. I miss them pretty much, especially when a song or a memory flashes in my head, then I go lalala-I-wish-they’re-here mode. Alright, let’s stop this sentimentality, and get this over with.
As I was writing earlier, the internet provides a connection to the people we love. It could also be used for business transactions and academic researches. Basically, the internet has uses that could limit the time and money we need in doing certain things. But it was not made to DESTROY people’s self-esteem and reputation.
Cyber Bullying creates depression and anti-social tendencies.  The following are considered cyber bullying : negative comments, rude photos, false accusations, profanities and sensitive posts that breaches the privacy of a. Internet is supposed to be for communicating with loved ones, and not for destroying people’s lives. Bullying is a case that might have no solution yet, bet can we just tolerate bullies? Can we let them run rampant everywhere? NO. I mean, not in a vengeance sort of way, but in a way that could reprimand them at the same time etch into their memories the consequences of their selfish actions.
On the other side, bullies have their own reasons for being one. They might be experiencing psychological depressions or struggles that propel them to do heinous things such as bullying.  Insecurity, suppressed emotions and pessimism are also big factors that contribute to the making of a bully.
Cyber bullying could not be eradicated in a day. It depends on society itself to help those angst driven, bitter teens to move on and change their perceptions about life. Let us think before we speak, think before we click and think before we act.

The G A T B

Ahem. Ahem. I have nothing in particular to say. Sunrises for me are meaningless, since I don't see them much from where I live. The hustle bustle of everyday life is catching up with me more than the shy glances of the sun among the canopies. I don't live in the forest if I must say. In fact, I live near the outskirts of the city, which is a thousand times calmer than most side streets I know. Things in our little community are haphazardly stacked above the other, but still manages to go on with the daily tasks on hand. In short, our little community lives in the chaos within the peace. Well, I would pick that over the dogmatic government of other communities stuck in limbo.

Eighteen years in this world showed me how the hierarchy of things could get you instantly sidetracked from the most beautiful things. Sunrises would be one of them. Firstly, preparing for school is my first goal after reading the bible every morning. I hate being tardy, but the hierarchy of it all is getting to my nerves, and certain things must be done before going to school. Okay. Shall we stop? I'm not making sense here, but most rants do.
